How To: Kill Candida Overgrowth With a Holistic Approach

Candida is a yeast, it is also the most common fungus which causes infections ranging from mild to severe and almost lethal in especially the immuno compromised patients. Colonies of Candida exist in the digestive tract, mouth, skin, urinary tract and the genitalia. These fungi are harmless and coexist with the healthy bacteria which keep a strict check on them. If the balance of the normal bacteria is overturned due to a weak immune system or due to aggressive use of corticosteroids, then the Candida gain an upper hand and propagate rapidly thus becoming offensive and damaging.

The infestation is most common in the female urogenital tract and accounts for more than one third of the vulva and vaginal infections. More than 50% of women face this infection yearly and some have frequent episodes of it. The main symptoms are severe itching, foul yellowish discharge from the vagina, pain and burning during intercourse and during urination.

Holistic approach to killing Candida

This self-care protocol that follows below can be perceived as very extensive and you may feel that it can be difficult to follow and relate to. You should always start from your own conditions and we are all different and have different conditions to create our own health. This is not a short-term diet or "loose weight diet" but rather recommendations for a good basic health and for creating an understanding of how the body works and what it needs to feel good.

  • Eat a lot of green leafy vegetables, preferably for each meal, chew thoroughly. It’s important to facilitate and relieve the digestion so that as much nutrition as possible can get picked up in the body.

  • Eat cabbage plants (broccoli, cauliflower, kale, red cabbage). If you have stomach and intestinal problems, start by steaming them before eating them raw. Please continue to steam them if you experience difficulty eating them raw.

  • You may have to wait 2 months with the intake of root vegetables if you have stomach and intestinal problems. They should not be eaten raw at first. Distribute most of the carbohydrate intake to after your workout, as the nutrition of the carbohydrates is best utilized by the body when it has been in activity.

  • Do not eat wheat in any form, (including spelled, bulgur, couscous), nor rye, barley, oats, candy, soft drinks, cakes, pasta, bread, fast food, processed food, beans, soybeans, soy milk, tofu, corn, artificial sweeteners or raw food pastries containing agave.

  • Do not eat/avoid as much as you can (due to its content of lectins): tomatoes, eggplant, white potatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, pumpkin, goji berries, cashew nuts, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, soy, peanuts and sweet peppers.

As with many other substances and foods, not only is it negative and there may be positive properties of lectins as well, and the last word about lectins being or not being said is not. But the big negative part with lectins is that they can benefit and create inflammations and damage the intestinal mucosa, which in turn has a direct negative impact on the rest of the body. It may be good to be aware of this so that you can create a better variation in your diet.

  • Get to the core of everything called sleep challenges. Going to bed preferable at 10.oo pm the latest and try to get up at 6.00 am to achieve a regular sleep rhythm.

  • Sleep in complete dark, don’t look at the phone or TV after 7.p.m. without glasses that block out blue/HEV light.

  • Clock genes control several vital functions in the body, which will affect your body’s hormonal system, which affects the Candida overgrowth.

  • Sleep is a essential part of the body’s health, especially hormonal health.

Morning walks:

  • Please take a morning walk of about 30-45 minutes each morning, preferably in nature if you have the opportunity and preferably immediately after breakfast.

  • Do not wear sunglasses during the walk. The morning walks will affect sleep positively as well as clock genes which affect all the body's cells positively, including the hormone system and thus also the candida.

  • It is an extremely important part of the protocol.

  • Focus on weight training between 2-4 times a week if possible.

  • Sauna and/or dry brush your body prior to the shower to help the body to get rid of slag products and boost the blood circulation, which facilitates the body's healing.

  • Stress can be behind, be part of or affect eczema, skin health with acne as a consequence, inflammation, fungus, asthma, immune defense, gastrointestinal, adrenal and thyroid disorders, leaking intestine, fatigue, menopausal problems, weight problems, weight gain, weight loss but also severe diseases among other things.

  • Yoga reduces the physical effects of stress on the body. By encouraging relaxation, yoga helps to lower the levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Related benefits include lowering blood pressure and heart rate, improving digestion and boostin the immune system as well as easing symptoms of conditions such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, asthma and insomnia. • A great way to decrease your internal stress is with meditation. Regardless if you’re a beginner or a regular meditator, please try this short 7 minute guided meditation to de-stress and re-connect with yourself.

  • Never meditated or new to the subject, don’t worry–we got you! Here are six simple steps to meditation.

  • Think about mediation as washing your brain. You shower at least once a day (hopefully), so why not wash your brain. We are constantly thinking, judging, evaluating. Even in sleep. Our brain needs time to chill. Literally.

  • Your subconscious is at an open state when waking up in the morning, here’s where conditions and programing are wired, that you essentially manifest from. Therefore, it’s advised to wait before jumping on the phone the first thing in the morning, due to it will automatically set you off to a more challenging starting-point. You’re more likely to get caught in your head, trap yourself in comparison and loose touch with your inner voice, which will cause you to have limitations in your subconscious when you’re manifesting. Let’s be honest, that isn’t self-love.

However, what is self-love is to acknowledge your own behavioral patterns that aren’t serving you and take steps towards changing them. You may not like it, but you do it anyway because you know deep down that it will lead you to the outcome and life you aspire to live. We’re here. Cheering for you–and know that we believe in you. Yes, YOU!
